
About the Breaking Program


Intro to Breaking:
-
Introduction to Ballet and Jazz movement. Students will learn the fundamentals of ballet positions, technique, and terminology while connecting ballet steps into combinations. They will also learn the discipline and structure of proper ballet etiquette at the barré. Students will use ballet technique to lead into basic jazz dance steps and short combinations.

👗 Dress Code:

Clothing: Solid black leotard, studio brand tights, solid black tight fitting shorts, if desired; Boys: solid black shirt and solid black shorts

Shoes: Studio Brand Ballet Shoes, no laces AND solid black jazz shoes, no laces

Hair: Pulled back, preferably in tight bun, bangs away from face
Breaking I&II:
-
This class is for those that are new to ballet or have had little to no technique training in the past. Focus will be on learning basic ballet terms and technique. Dancers will spend most of the time at the barré working on correct alignment, turn out, and balance, but will also be introduced to simple turns and jumps across the floor.

Ballet I/II & Higher : So Danca or Capezio Canvas Ballet Shoes
